Hammer union seals are used in the connections between flexible hoses or pipes used in the oil drilling industry. The seal provides a critical fluid tight connection within the union hardware.
Shanghai Qinuo offer 2",3", and 4" Hammer Union Seals in Nitrile for standard service and in (FKM) or HNBR for Sour Gas Service. In addition to the standard molded rubber seals, we offer these with either a brass or stainless steel anti-extrusion ring.
A hammer union comprises of a thread end, a nut end and a hammer nut which, when cinched up, compresses a composite seal assembly thereby preventing leakage.
The seal assembly comprises a metal insert of a size to pass into the seal groove of conventional hammer unions and a small seal acting between the insert, the thread end and the nut end.
The small seal is conveniently an O-ring or a Hammer Union Seal (Lip Seal) and is of a size that is compressed when the seal assembly is inserted into the thread end of the hammer union.
Hammer Union seal are high-pressure threaded or welded connections with two halves a threaded female half and a wing male half with swivel nut that fit together and seal upon turning and then hammering the nut half together with the threaded half.
